Tips to Create a Romantic Valentine’s Day Card

For this Valentine’s Day present her a homemade Valentine card complete with a heart felt message! Whether you’ve got mad poetry skills or have romance abilities that would make Shakespeare himself cringe, these easy to follow tips will have you sounding like Casanova in no time.

The Perfect Pairings Candy Valentine Card

This doesn’t need to be intimidating. The following Valentine card is easy to create, and can be personalized any way you like, depending on how creative you want to get.

What You Need

  • Card stock or heavy decorative paper of your choosing
  • Scissors and double-sided tape
  • Some of her favorite candies

Create the Card

  • Cut out a heart from the card stock or paper
  • Create a clever message or pun that matches the candies you attach below with double sided tape. Examples include:
    • I love you to pieces (with a small Reese’s pieces package)
    • You rock my world (with candy rockets or pop rocks)
    • Being with you is peachy (with a small package of fuzzy peaches)
    • You blow me away (with some bubble gum)
    • Life would suck without you (with Tootsie pops or her favorite suckers)
    • I’m nuts about you (with a chocolate bar with peanuts or almonds in it)
    • I love you berry much (with a small package of Swedish berries)
  • You can decorate the heart any way you choose or embellish it by sticking it on another square piece of card stock to make it really stand out. Extras such as doilies, ribbon, decorative paper, and fabric scraps can add a nice touch.

Add a Valentine Message

On the back, add a poem, a limerick, or just a straight up message about how you feel about her. This doesn’t have to be long, complicated, or difficult. If you’re not the best at expressing your emotions on paper—make it funny.

There are many different ways to show you care about her without having to write a long heart-felt message. Beginning is often the hardest part, so use the following Valentine’s Day messages to get you started, and then try personalizing your message a bit further to add that special touch.

Romantic

  • You are and always will be my best friend, lover, and Valentine.
  • I love loving you. You’re my everything. Happy Valentine’s Day!
  • A lifelong search has reached an end. I’ve found both my love and my best friend.

Humorous

  • Cupid’s aim is still pretty good. Happy Valentine’s Day!
  • You’ve stolen my heart, but I know it’s in good hands. Just don’t pawn it. Happy Valentine’s Day!
  • Most people don’t know this, but “Valentine’s Day” spelled backwards is “Yad Senitnelav” which means “Stupid Sucker” in Cherub language. Cupid told me!

Sentimental

  • Thank goodness you said “yes” to our first date. Happy Valentine’s Day!
  • It’s still a mystery to me, I haven’t got a clue, how I got so lucky and found you!
  • Thanks for loving me as I am. You’re amazing and I’m so lucky to have you. Happy Valentine’s Day!
