How To Make A Glitter Globe

A glitter globe is similar to a snow globe. However, they do not need to be made only in the winter or around Christmas. A glitter globe can be made for any holiday or occasion. Or just a fun project to do with kids.

Two glitter jars

Jelly glass jars make for
great-looking glitter globes!

Supplies

  • Empty and cleaned jelly or other jar with a lid
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 cup of glycerin
  • Hot glue gun
  • One or more figurines to place in the globe
  • Glitter in any chosen color

Figurines

  • Choose figurines that match the holiday, such as bunnies and small eggs for Easter or hearts and flowers for Valentine’s Day. Animals or insects could be placed inside for Spring or Summer. If the glitter globe is being made during the winter months, then snowmen, trees or people can be added too.

Instructions

  • Take the empty and cleaned jelly jar and remove the lid.
  • On the inside of the lid, using the hot glue gun, glue the figures to the lid. Make sure that the figurines fit inside the jelly jar before gluing.
  • Let the hot glue dry.
  • Take the jar and add the one cup of water and the one cup of glycerin to the jar.
  • Sprinkle in the glitter that you have chosen. If being made in the winter and you want it to look like snow, break an egg and break the shell into pieces. Add these pieces of shell instead to look like snow.
  • Using the hot glue gun, run a layer of glue around the inside rim of the lid.
  • Quickly place the lid onto the jar and screw on tightly.
  • Remove any access glue that may have come out the sides.
  • Let the glue dry.
  • Turn the globe over and shake!
